Went to my first Android App Development class last night. It was at the Charleston Digital Corridor’s Flagship 2 building downtown. It’s a six week class that will teach the fundamentals of mobile application development on the Android open source platform. In the first class we got an introduction to the history of Java and the Android platform. We setup the Eclipse IDE on the classroom iMacs and went over some of its features. I’m still struggling with the nuances of Macs, but I am feeling a lot better about using them now. The class is full of high school kids from Porter-Gaud, and they definitely know their way around apple products. The professor, Cheryl Sedota, is very knowledgeable and she made us all feel very comfortable with the lesson. Next week we are diving right into our first project. I can’t wait.
